چکیده

Abstract As climate warming progresses, it becomes necessary to study the effects of water temperature on basin-scale dynamic distribution riverine fish. This examined spatiotemporal Plecoglossus altivelis using environmental DNA approach and its relationship with from summer growth autumn spawning periods in Nagara River basin, central Japan. The overall results P. were consistent known life history: a wide-range basin during aggregation middle mainstem autumn. Additionally, this found three intriguing patterns depending temperature. During (August), warmest period, was distributed upper mainstem, one tributary, downstream tributary confluences relation relatively colder (< 25 °C). early (September–early October), spread widely without constraint limit late (late October–November), steadily aggregated because migration for at temperatures below 20 °C. suggests importance river connectivity suitable habitats freshwater stages, tributaries as habitats, cooling mid-summer.

Cloning and characterization of metallothionein gene in ayu Plecoglossus altivelis.

Metallothionein (MT) has been used widely as a potential molecular marker to detect the deleterious effects of heavy metals in aquatic ecosystem. Here we exposed ayu, Plecoglossus altivelis, to zinc (Zn) and tested the distribution as well as the induction of MT in various tissues such as liver, kidney, intestine and stomach. MT induction was significant in liver tissue, followed by kidney and ...

Studies on Morphology and Cytochemistry in Blood Cells of Ayu Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis

Peripheral blood cells from ayu, Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis, were separated using a density gradient. Blood cells were then smeared using Shandon Cytospin and subjected to cytochemical staining. Blood cells were categorized based on morphological and cytochemical characteristics, and the density fractionation range and nucleus area/cell area ratio were observed. Lymphocytes are distinguis...

Characterization of P2X7R and Its Function in the Macrophages of ayu, Plecoglossus altivelis

P2X purinoceptor 7 (P2X7R), an ATP-gated ion channel, plays an important role during the innate immune response in mammals. However, relatively little is known about the role of P2X7R in the fish immune system. Here, we cloned a cDNA sequence encoding ayu (Plecoglossus altivelis) P2X7R (aP2X7R). The predicted protein was composed of 574 amino acid residues with a P2X family signature, two trans...

Pathogenesis of experimentally induced bacterial cold water disease in ayu Plecoglossus altivelis.

Ayu Plecoglossus altivelis were experimentally infected with Flavobacterium psychrophilum, which is the causative agent of bacterial cold water disease (CWD). The fish infected by immersion usually died within an hour after they became moribund. The blood volume and haematocrit values of moribund fish were low, while those values of many infected fish that were not moribund were in the range of...
